Joy Ride
Chelsea McBride's composition, "Joy Ride," gives a festive nod to the legendary Count Basie band. The perfect addition to any middle school or high school set list, Joy Ride is a lively riff-based blues composition in the tradition of great blues tunes of the swing era. Joy Ride's soli sections are very simple yet offer students a chance to dig into the swing style with attitude! Everyone in the ensemble is given solo changes, with lots of opportunities to feature soloists over a 12-bar blues form.
Bass lines and piano voicings are all written out. Additional parts for flute, clarinet, and vibraphone are included, though are not listed in the score.
