Duck Confit
Composed during her time studying at the University of Oregon (Go Ducks!), Jessika Smith's "Duck Confit" (con-fee) is a fun shuffle blues in the key of B flat, featuring the saxophone section with a brief sax soli. This chart is accessible for middle school and high school ensembles as well as professionals. The solo section's chord progression (half step approaches) should not be taken too seriously - learning the basic blues form and soloing using the major and minor pentatonic and blues scales will do just fine! Directors and students can look to Duck Confit's unison shout chorus as a model for improvisation ideas.
Included: PDF digital downloads of full transposed score, all parts, and reference mp3.
Level: Middle School (playable by High School and above!)
5 saxes/4 trombones/4 trumpets/guitar, piano, bass, drums
Highest note for lead trumpet = Concert F5 (written G at the top of staff)
Highest note for lead trombone = Concert Eb4
Bass and Piano parts written out
