Serenata do Gato
In 2023 during a trip to Brazil, Camilla Vaitaitis spent some time in the rainforest where she met a particularly cute and curious cat named Gatys (gah-chees). Observing this cat explore her rainforest home inspired Camilla to write this song, "Serenata do Gato" for her.
"Serenata do Gato" is a joyful bossa nova with a memorable melody, playful clapping sections, and engaging chord changes for improvisation. Rhythm section parts are written out and included is an "improv resource" with two written solos for all players to explore and expand upon. It's sure to be a hit with students and audience!
